Surely the one hilarious funeral I have seen in these lo, five-plus decades! An Oscar for Judge Cilley, who was utterly magnificent in this somber ‘n’ sober role.

We have learned the hard way, I feel worse that it has to effect the children, if It was just Hubby and Me it would not be so bad, we would live with the hard lesson. No more credit cards and we are working hard to get out of debt. It will go faster when I find a job. Thanks for the video, I will check out the book too!

No Debt = (More Sleep + Greater Happiness) – Fewer Financial Worries. For the things that *truly* matter, MC/Visa is irrelevant.

    Judge Cilley, …
Judge Cilley, although speaking “ad lib”, was closer to speaking the real truth about the devil’s work than the filmed participants (and you readers) are inclined to believe, or acknowledge. Think about it. Brilliantly done and scarily thought-provoking….to those who have ears to hear.

why on earth do you …
why on earth do you need a credit score at ALL if you intend to pay for everything with CASH (or DEBIT card)…INCLUDING your mortgage. You don’t need everything RIGHT NOW and that includes your house. Save cash for an emergency fund then PAY cash for everything else. “The Total Money Makeover” By Dave Ramsey explains it all

    As a European who …
As a European who knows from experience (just paid off my card in monthly instalments) I can tell you you are mistaken about the system being all that different.
I take full responsibility from my spending, but it is true that it is all too easy to be lured into spending, every time the balance on my credit card got higher the company gave me more spending room without asking me if I wanted it first. That seems like encouraging people to make unwise decisions with their money to me.

    That was awesome. …
That was awesome. We finished Financial Freedom w/Jim Sammons a few months ago and the lighthearted touch was nice. Just remember-20% discount on all items when you pay w/ cash. =)

  • fmhvill:

    Well, here in …
Well, here in Europe your credit card debt is automaticaly drawn in from a bank account at the end of each month, which is probably a better system.
However if people get into troube because they do not pay back their debt, it is their own fault. You can not blame credit card companies because they give people the possibility (= not compulsory) to borrow money.

that’s great, I’m glad that I don’t have that monkey. I use my card (singular) for the points and always pay it off. But I’ve seen the problems these things can cause.
